Day 01a Germany-Wurzburg

Wurzburg is the northern starting point of the Romantic Road. She is famous for the Residence, a UNESCO World Heirtage site. It also has a typical German city center. During World War II, most of the city center was destroyed and so what we see here were rebuilt after the war.

After a short 115km drive from Frankfurt, we arrive at Wurzburg in the mid-morning. We parked at the carpark in front of the residence and took about two hours to walk round the city center. Wurzburg is a quiet mid-size city where one can experience what a traditional German city is like. A noteworthy starting point of the Romantic Road.

The route of our city walk is shown here. Click on the placemark to see the location where the photos below were taken. Alternatively you can click on the slideshow on the top left hand corner to see the album and the album map.
